Itinerary
1 Humantay Lake
🌄 Departure from Cusco
At dawn, around 4:30 a.m., we’ll begin our journey to the breathtaking Humantay Lake—one of the most enchanting landscapes in the Peruvian Andes! 💙✨
We’ll head northwest from Cusco, passing through traditional villages and Andean homes until we reach the town of Limatambo, where the landscape begins to transform into a spectacular display of mountains and valleys.
☕ Breakfast
Our first stop will be in Mollepata, where we’ll enjoy a delicious Andean breakfast—perfect for fueling up before the hike.
🚌 The Trip
After breakfast, we’ll continue by vehicle to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike. Along the way, our guide will share interesting facts about the local flora, fauna, and traditions, making the journey even more enriching. 🌿
🚶♀️ Ascent – Challenge and Overcoming
Before we begin, our guide will explain how to acclimate to the altitude and maintain a steady pace during the hike.
Trekking poles and a light snack will be provided to help with the physical exertion.
The hike lasts approximately 2 hours and requires good physical conditioning,
not only because of the distance but also due to the altitude of approximately 4,200 meters above sea level. 🏔️
At this altitude, the air is thinner and there is a lower concentration of oxygen, which can cause fatigue, shortness of breath, and the need for frequent breaks.
Therefore, it is recommended to walk slowly, stay hydrated, and take short breaks to rest.
💙 Arrival at Lake Humantay
The effort is well worth it!
Lake Humantay appears before us, its vivid turquoise waters reflecting the white peaks of Humantay and Salkantay: a scene of peace, spirituality, and indescribable beauty. 🏔️💧✨
📸 Return and Buffet Lunch
After some free time to rest, take in the scenery, and take photos, we’ll return via Soraypampa to Mollepata, where a delicious buffet lunch will be waiting for us.
🚌 Return to Cusco
Our return trip will take us back to the city of Cusco, with an estimated arrival around 6:00 PM at Plaza Regocijo, next to the Plaza de Armas.

If the hike proves too difficult due to the altitude or physical exertion, you can rent horses on-site to help with the trek to Laguna Humantay.
