Essential Info
Essential Info about the 6-Day Cusco Comfort Tour
Arriving in Cusco
Planning your adventure to Cusco for the 6-Day Cusco Comfort Tour begins with getting here! While the Cusco airport is your landing spot, remember it only handles domestic flights at the moment. International voyagers, you’ll need to first land in Lima, clear Customs, and then hop on a connecting flight to Cusco. Even with a same-day connection with the same airline, make sure to pick up your bags in Lima and check them in again for Cusco.
Flying to Cusco is the top recommendation for a smooth journey. You’ll find a variety of airlines to select from, with LAN being a renowned but pricier choice. However, plan with a little flexibility, as Cusco’s high-altitude weather can sometimes cause delays or cancellations. For road trippers or those near Puno, buses are a solid alternative, offering comfort and good maintenance, though brace yourself for the 20-hour ride from Lima.
Upon arriving, give yourself a day or two to relax and adapt to the altitude of about 3,400 meters (11,155 feet) to ward off altitude sickness. Stay hydrated, take it slow, and maybe sip on some coca tea, a local favorite for easing those high-altitude challenges. With your body acclimated, you’re set for a breathtaking exploration of Machu Picchu and beyond.
Transfers In/Out
As soon as you land in Cusco, we’ve got you covered. Our friendly team will greet you at the airport—just look out for someone with the SPT Travel & Tours logo on a whiteboard! They’ll escort you to your hotel smoothly. For your return trip, we’ve arranged to pick you up from your hotel 2 hours before your flight time. Traffic can vary, so the drive might take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes.
Leave your Suitcase
Embark on your Cusco Comfort Tour unburdened! Your suitcase stays securely at the hotel while you travel light with a backpack packed with essentials. Remember to include water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, your camera, and any personal medications. With just the basics, you’ll be free to immerse yourself in the majestic landscapes and cultural marvels, ensuring every moment of your journey is joyous and carefree.
Bring Cash
In Cusco and the famed Machu Picchu, cash remains indispensable. Although many larger businesses accept credit cards, smaller purchases or surprises along the way might still call for cash. We suggest bringing Peruvian soles and some US dollars in smaller denominations. ATMs are abundant in major cities, but you might find them scarce in more secluded spots. No need to worry about changing currency beforehand; airport and city exchanges have you covered.
The Transport
Your travel in the 6-Day Cusco Comfort Tour promises comfort and breathtaking views. Journey by our deluxe bus and a scenic train, both designed for relaxation amidst awe-inspiring landscapes. Enjoy cool, air-conditioned buses with roomy seats and train rides with panoramic windows offering immersive, pristine views of Peru’s countryside.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
Get ready for some serious exploration! Walking through historic sites calls for sturdy, comfortable shoes. With terrains varying from cobblestones to steps, ensure your shoes offer the support and cushioning you need to enjoy every moment. This preparation pays off as you experience the adventure of a lifetime without any unwanted discomfort.
The Tour Guide
Meet your well-versed tour guide on the 6-Day Cusco Comfort Tour, someone with deep insights into the history, culture, and natural beauty of the region. Fluent in several languages, including English and Spanish, your guide enhances your journey with intriguing stories and engaging commentary about the Inca civilization. Their warm nature invites questions and creates a welcoming atmosphere, enriching your exploration of these remarkable landmarks.
About the Group
Your tour group will be a lively mix of travelers from across the globe, offering you a cross-cultural exchange of ideas and stories. While English is the main language used, it ensures smooth communication and a shared understanding amongst everyone. This not only simplifies your travel experience but also fosters friendships as you dive into the majestic history and views of Machu Picchu together.
Food
While the 6-Day Cusco Comfort Tour package covers delightful breakfasts at your hotel, lunches and dinners are for you to discover. Enjoy the chance to explore Peru’s renowned cuisine at your own pace, whether you’re in a cozy café or a renowned eatery. This freedom allows you to curate a culinary journey as rich and memorable as the landmarks you visit.
About the Altitude
Altitude sickness is something to be mindful of during your Peruvian adventure. With higher altitudes bringing less oxygen, give yourself a few days in Cusco to adjust before trekking through the Andes. Packed with vibrant attractions, Cusco is perfect for exploring while your body adapts. Should you feel unwell, reach out to us immediately. Our team and guides are prepared to help manage any symptoms.
About Weather
Cusco’s weather keeps you guessing, adding an element of surprise to your trip! The dry season from April to October offers clear skies, though unexpected rainfall can still pop up. Be ready for any climatic variation with rain gear like waterproof jackets and gloves, as microclimates in the Andes can shift swiftly. Packing layers, including a compact, warm jacket for cooler evenings, ensures you stay comfortable the whole tour.
Travel Insurance
Protect your adventure asset with travel insurance, a must-have for any savvy traveler. Offering coverage for unforeseen disruptions, medical needs, or lost baggage, travel insurance keeps your finances secure. The registration process is a breeze and can be done from home. It’s peace of mind for every explorer, letting you dive into new experiences without worry.

Can I store my luggage at your office?
Absolutely! You can store your main luggage either in our office or at your hotel for free during the Machu Picchu tour.

Normally, changes to the departure date are not allowed since the permits and train tickets are non-transferable and cannot be rescheduled. However, if necessary, we will need to purchase new permits and train tickets, and the cost will be your responsibility.
Do I need to bring my original passport?
Bringing your original passport is a critical requirement for your journey to Machu Picchu. This essential document will be verified at key points during your trip, including at the Machu Picchu checkpoint and when you board the train to the site. The passport you bring must be the same one you used to provide your details at the time of booking.
This ensures that all your reservation details match precisely with the information on your travel documents, facilitating a smooth and hassle-free experience as you embark on your adventure to explore the ancient wonders of Machu Picchu. Be sure to double-check your passport’s validity and its alignment with the booking details well in advance of your travel dates to avoid any potential issues.

Yes, you can book your hotel independently, which will reduce the price by $30 per person. If you choose this option, please inform us of your chosen accommodation so our guide can take you there safely.
How far in advance should I book the tour?
We accept reservations at least one week in advance. However, availability is limited, and permits for Machu Picchu, as well as train tickets, are in high demand, often selling out months ahead. Therefore, we recommend booking your tour 2 to 3 months in advance to secure your spot.
What are the differences between the Expedition and Vistadome categories of the train?
Both the Expedition and Vistadome categories offer comfortable leather seats and include a snack and hot or cold drink per person. The key difference is that the Vistadome train features windows on the roof of the cars, providing a panoramic view. Additionally, the Vistadome train offers onboard entertainment services such as traditional dances and parades.

Machu Picchu is located between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon jungle, with a warm and temperate climate. The average minimum temperature is 12°C, and the average maximum temperature is 24°C. The dry season runs from April to October, with a lower probability of rain. The rainy season spans from November to March, with a higher chance of rain. Nevertheless, being a subtropical zone, rainfall is possible year-round.
What should I pack for the trip?
We recommend packing lightly but ensuring you include essentials such as comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a light jacket for cooler evenings. For visits to Machu Picchu, wear breathable clothing and bring rain protection, as the weather can be unpredictable.
Is the tour suitable for all age groups?
