You’ll have time to enjoy a short rest and replenish your energy before continuing the day’s hike. After lunch, we’ll start a two-hour uphill hike towards the camp of Upis. BEST TIME TO DO 3-DAY RAINBOW MOUNTAIN AND RED VALLEY
The optimal period for the 3-Day Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley trek is from May to October, which coincides with the dry season in the Andes. During these months, you’ll benefit from brighter skies and more stable weather, enabling you to fully savor the breathtaking vistas. Particularly in June through August, you’ll find the driest weather, although it’s also the peak tourist season, making regions such as Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Inca Trail more crowded.
Despite being popular, the Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley Trek lets you avoid crowds year-round. Daytime temperatures range from 10-20°C on sunny days to 5-10°C without sunlight. High-altitude campsites can drop to -10°C or lower at night, so warm clothing is essential. The rainy season, from November to April, peaks between January and March with heavy rainfall and potential road closures, especially in February. For the best experience, consider trekking during the dry season or the off-season months of April and October.
